Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou was born in Beaumont in France's Puy-de-Domme on 8 August 1976. She was youngest of four children. Audrey Tautou's parents, who were a dentist as well as a teacher at school helped and encouraged her passion for acting and theater. Her initial dream to become a master monkey was eclipsed by her wish to learn about drama and theater. The early success of her career and the rapid increase in recognition was a sign of her development as an actor. In 1998 after her studies, she was a participant in the French program for scouting talent on TV called Jeunes Premiers that was supported by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors prior to beginning the journey to become an actor. Tautou was raised in an Catholic home and went to religious services, despite having went to school at school at the Institut Catholique de Paris. Neben her acting, Tautou has also been a model and the face in the advertising campaign for L'Oreal Mont Blanc as well as Chanel. Alongside her acting work she is also interested in photography. Recently, she exhibited a selection of her photographs during the Arles Film Festival, under the name Superficial. Her photography is focused on celebrities, fame and the press that scrutinised her following her fame-making debut in the film Amelie. Additionally, there are a number of photographs featuring herself. Audrey Tautou's first big performance, in the role of Amelie Poulain's leading actress in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie poulain, earned her international stardom. Amelie has been a box office hit internationally and praised at many award shows around the world. It is the top-grossing French film to be released in the United States. Following this massive success, Tautou went on to star in numerous films, which included British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Un long dimanche de fiancailles. Tautou also appeared alongside Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
