April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4 1995 in seventh grade. She began playing guitar and taking piano classes, which ignited her love for songwriting. In April, when she was 12 years old when she wrote her first single Different. She spent lots of time when she was 14 composing songs and experimenting with the piano. In the following months, she started taking notes together with her dad to LA and NY. April was the month that she began to write about other issues in Take My Hand for the people in her life who are struggling with disabilities, peer pressure or suicide. Lockhart collaborates with popular clean beauty brand Ilia as well as a lifestyle influencer with a huge following of her own. She was not born having a left-handed hand, which is the reason she's what she is. However, that's not all the facts. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny her disability. But it also doesn't make it a point to emphasize her disability. What's the message? This is the message that we all share multiple identities and are far more complicated than we believe we are. I don't want that to be the only thing that defines me. I don't want to be a disability influencer where that's all I speak about since there are many different elements to my life. Lockhart states in video form from her home in Nashville. The fact that she is a disability influencer doesn't impact my everyday life. It's all normal, and I've learned how to adjust. This is also part of me, and I believe it should be discussed. Lockhart has been a great source of inspiration for her female friends with regards to acceptance of oneself. Yet, she confesses having moments when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance and wearing clothing with arms. She can wear whatever she likes, and is proud to share photos of herself dressed in her favorite outfits. To her, self-love was an extended journey. But I think that's with everyone with whatever the source of their anxiety. The people you surround yourself with who truly know you, and can see through your eyes are the most important people to remind you of what you're concerned about.
