Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on April 17th, 1972. She was raised however at Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner worked as a chemist for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner taught in the same college as her. She earned a degree in chemical engineering to emulate her father. In order to pursue her dream of acting, she decided to move in New York and try her hand in acting in Hollywood. As she appeared in Broadway shows, she also was a waitress at an adjacent restaurant. On the television series "Felicity," she had one brief appearance. (It is in this show where she became acquainted with her husband Scott Foley. Garner began her career in Alias, an action thriller. Her first major part was in the acclaimed romantic comedy 13 Going on 30. In it she played the young woman trapped within a 30years old body. Garner picked Gary Winick (director) to create the film. Together, they searched for new projects to do until Winick passed away in 2011. Garner earned the honorary title of the artist ambassador in 2009 by Save the Children U.S.A. This includes the advancement of literacy, nutrition and early childhood education. Garner was elected as a director on the board of this non-profit organization in 2014. Garner advocates for early childhood development. She has been visiting families throughout Early Steps to School Success which is a program that aims to teach parents how to help their child's development - and act as an advocate.
